The Security Professionals' Congress 2008 is the nation’s most important forum for Australia security professionals. Download program here.

The 2008 Congress will shape the future of Australia’s security professional for the next decade as it will focus on the report of the Interim Security Professionals’ Taskforce.

The Taskforce is supported by the Australian Government’s Attorney-General’s Department.

The format of limited plenary addresses and workshops provides opportunities to share professional knowledge, influence the direction of the security professionals and develop significant personnel networks.

The Congress is supported by many of Australia’s leading security, risk and intelligence associations.

2 Objectives
To bring together security and related professionals to develop a consensus approach to advancing security professionals for the benefit of society, their clients and employers, and security professionals themselves. Specific objectives include:

  • To identify the key elements for a code of ethics/practice for security professionals
  • To determining minimum standards and competencies for security professionals
  • To identify an appropriate national registration, accreditation or licensing system for security professionals
  • To develop a strategy to raise the status and recognition of security professionals
  • To identify what constitutes “best practice” for security professionals in various specialisations
  • To identify potential structural solutions to ensuring security professionals have a strong public voice and can self-organise
